A small ashram, not a hotel.
You will find clean beds, hot water, daily housekeeping and quiet. You will not find a lobby, a spa or a breakfast buffet. That is deliberate. Pilgrims arrive tired and leave before dawn, and what helps them most is a good night’s sleep next to the mountain.
Shernath Bapu carries forward the lineage of Guru Gorakhnath here, and the ashram is open to devotees, families, elders and solo travellers alike. Rates and facilities change with the season, so we ask every guest to phone the office before setting out.

What the climb needs, close by
- The stairway & ropeway
The Girnar stairway and the lower ropeway station both begin at Bhavnath Taleti, so the first step of the day is a short one.
- Bhavnath Mahadev & Mrigi Kund
The old Shiva temple and its sacred tank are at the base of the mountain — and the Lili Parikrama starts and ends here.
- Damodar Kund, about 2 km
The sacred tank and Radha Damodar temple lie a short drive away, on the road toward Junagadh.
A sample day on the Girnar circuit
A general plan drawn from how most pilgrims move — not an ashram timetable. Times are approximate.
Leave for the stairway
Most climbers start in this window to walk in cool air and reach the upper shrines early.
The Jain temples
Around 3,800 steps up. The Neminath temple stays open all day while many others lock for a midday break.
The Ambaji temple
About 5,000 steps up — or ride the ropeway, which runs from roughly 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Gorakhnath and Dattatreya
About 2,000 steps beyond Ambaji to the Gorakhnath peak, and further to Dattatreya. A full-day effort.
Down, then rest
Bhavnath Mahadev temple and Mrigi Kund are close to the base, and a bed is waiting at Bhavnath Taleti.

Questions we hear most
Is this a hotel?
No. It is an ashram: rooms are plain on purpose and the setting is quiet. It welcomes devotees, pilgrims, families and other travellers.
How near is it to the Girnar stairway and ropeway?
Bhavnath Taleti is the base of Girnar. The stairway and the lower ropeway station start here, so there is no transfer in the dark.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes for festival weeks and the winter peak. Call or WhatsApp the office with your dates and number of guests, and confirm the rate before paying.
What should I bring?
A valid photo ID for every adult, modest clothes, and for the climb sturdy shoes, water and a torch.
Coming to Girnar?
Tell us your dates and who is travelling, and the office will say plainly what is available.
